I have been routinely traveling near the intersection of Raiders Way and E. Dale Avenue for several months now. I have become increasingly troubled by the deteriorating traffic conditions at the intersection. The situation has only worsened with time, causing great concern for the safety of commuters and pedestrians alike. In order to illustrate my point, I have included a visual aid in the form of an image of the intersection within this blog post.
Despite having contacted the Distribution Center about this issue a month or two ago, I was met with an apathetic response from their representative. Disheartened by their lack of concern, I felt compelled to take matters into my own hands and reached out to my councilman as well as a high-ranking executive at Kroger’s. I have also submitted a comment on the City of Henderson’s website to highlight the gravity of the situation.
It is my sincere hope that these efforts will help bring about the necessary changes to improve the traffic conditions and ensure the safety of all those who utilize this intersection.
My comment for the City of Henderson and Councilman Dan Shaw is as follows:
I am reaching out to Councilman Dan Shaw and the City of Henderson Council to highlight the positive impact that Smith’s Distribution Center, in Henderson, Nevada, located at the corner of E. Dale Ave. and Raider’s Way in Henderson, NV 89052, has on our community. I am grateful for Smith’s contribution to our area and recognize the vital role the center plays.
However, as a concerned member of the community, I want to raise awareness of the traffic situation at E. Dale Avenue and Raider’s Way, which poses a safety hazard to our community. I believe that as time passes, this issue will only worsen. Currently, during peak hours, trucks become backed up in front of the distribution center and often idle directly in front of the entrance on the road itself, obstructing traffic flow. These trucks often idle on E. Dale Avenue and spill over onto the side of the road on Raider’s Way.
In addition, vehicles exiting E. Dale Ave and moving eastbound onto Raider’s Way cannot see the traffic to their left (southbound Raider’s way) due to the parked trucks. On many occasions, I have observed trucks jostling for position on the right and middle lanes of Raider’s Way, creating a potentially hazardous situation.
Moreover, during this time, the nearby Pinecrest Academy of Nevada at Sloan Canyon releases its students for the day. Although I have adapted by avoiding this problematic intersection, I have observed that numerous parents continue to exit E. Dale Ave via Raider’s Way. This situation concerns me greatly, and I fear that an unfortunate incident may occur in the future, resulting in potential harm to individuals.
I am confident that Kroger, Smith’s Distribution Center, and the managers of the property can work together to resolve this issue for the benefit of our entire community. While I do not have a specific solution to offer, I urge Smith’s to consider the safety of all residents. By working collaboratively, I am certain that we can address this issue and create a safer and more prosperous community while ensuring the efficient delivery of our community’s foodstuffs.
Thank you for your time.

Dear Mr. Holloway,
A quick update – Kroger/Smiths will be moving out of this facility and relocating to Apex. Our Public Works Director has indicated to the developer/owners that a redesign of traffic flow/management is needed as the new tenant comes in.
